Asher's Nursery

I have always wanted to plan and decorate a baby's nursery. So when Brian and I moved into our new apartment in August, one of the first things we did was start to plan for the baby's room. We had a ton of fun painting old furniture to make it look good - and we saved so much money too! When we finally got everything in the room we realized how small it was and that a wall composed of fake-wood closet doors wasn't the most attractive feature... but we still like how it turned out.

A friend had a canvas with a cat illustration on it in her store that we liked a lot and wanted to buy - then she told us how she made it and that we could just make our own! So Brian tried to copy her picture exactly and we really like how it turned out.

My favorite thing in the room is probably the dresser. It was in pretty bad shape when we bought it for 15 dollars at a garage sale - then we sanded and painted it and bought the rabbit and fox knobs at Anthropologie.

The glider we got for 25 bucks at another garage sale and it was pretty ugly as well as mismatched - but we painted it and I kind of made a new cover. (I didn't really finish it, hehe, so the fabric is just tucked in at the bottom...)

(I love that little red chair.)

Next to the cat picture we have another one now - when I took the pictures before Asher was born I didn't want to hang it because it has his name on it.

This Indian was the first thing I bought for some reason, at an antique store. Haha. I don't know why I had a strong attachment to it.

This Paddington Bear was mine when I was little! And the horse behind it was Brian's.

Our friend Kate got us these weird monster lights - Asher loves them now.

We had this cabinet that wasn't looking too great, so we painted it and Mod-Podged maps on the back. It was really fun and it's another of my favorite things in the room.

So there's the nursery! We did what we could without being able to paint and on a small budget and we love it!

  2. Those little black cowboy boots belonged to Brian's dad when he was a baby/toddler! Love the book holders on the wall, Christy. Very nice! Strangely, I have MY Dad's little Indian boy doll - the only doll he had, but the story goes he carried it around when he was a toddler. I will show it to you sometime. JSYK Brian has a stuffed Paddington bear that G'Ma Kohl sewed and made clothes for somewhere in storage!
